The main objective of the University is to advance knowledge, wisdom and understanding through teaching, research, extension and consultancy, and through the example and influence of its corporate life, subject to the provisions of the University Charter and any other applicable law.

The University’s specific objectives are:

• To produce a dynamic and competent human resource pool for nation-building.
• To promote research, academic ethics, social cohesion and Islamic cultural development for peace and harmony.
• To collaborate with other higher learning institutions in Tanzania, Africa and the world at large.
